Syarat nak lulus mesti hafal sekurang2nya 5 juzuk AlQuran:

Kedah Govt to build RM340m KUIN campus

THE Kedah Government will build a new campus for Kolej Universiti Insaniah (KUIN) in Baling.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak said the campus to be built on a 323.7ha site was expected to be completed by 2011.

“The new campus will replace KUIN campus on Jalan Sultanah here.

“The ground breaking for the campus will start in January next year,” he told newsmen after chairing the state exco meeting here yesterday.

Azizan said that the first phase of the project cost about RM250mil while the second and third phases of the project would cost RM50mil and RM40mil respectively.

He said that the state had identified a contractor who would be involved in the project.

Azizan said the new campus would accommodate between 9,000 and 10,000 students in the initial stage and up to 12,000 students when fully operational.

He said currently KUIN had about 8,000 students studying at its campus on Jalan Sultanah.

Azizan said the state planned to introduce more subjects at the new campus including tourism, agriculture, engineering and law at diploma and degree levels.

The university collage currently offers Syariah, Usuluddin, Arabic language, Business Studies, Accountancy, Information Tech-nology and also Quran ‘Tahfiz’ (memorising).

On another issue, Azizan hoped that forums on issues that touched on the sensitivitities of certain people would not be conducted in Kedah.

He said such forums would bring more bad than good to the state.

“If you conduct a forum touching on the sensitivities of others, they will conduct similar forums that touch issues that are close to you.

“This is unhealthy because it would create chaos. We want to avoid such a situation here,” he said.
